Vanessa is an experienced, professional counsellor working with both individual clients and couples. With a Diploma of Counselling from the Australian Institute of Professional Counsellors and a Level 2 registration with the Australian Counselling Association, she is also a Psychotherapist at South Pacific Private Hospital, working with clients recovering from trauma and addiction.
In a safe, caring space, Vanessa provides support to express your feelings, be heard and understood, working with your knowledge and experiences to take apart the messy knot of problems, decide the focus, explore your options, clarify your goals and develop your skills towards reaching them.
Depending on the individual needs of the client, Vanessa will draw from a variety of therapeutic modalities including DBT, ACT, CBT and Gestalt – all incorporating a strengths-based, person-centred approach. Vanessa works with both individuals and couples who are struggling with conflict, communication issues, depression, anxiety, grief, loss, family dysfunction, trauma, addiction, and transitions in life.
Vanessa’s background in the performing arts has given her an appreciation of the incredible diversity in perspectives and choices we make as individuals and the importance of authentic connection in our lives – connection to both self and others.
Vanessa believes the counsellor-client relationship is a central part of the healing process and is committed to providing the best service possible to you as her client.
